INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
SUPPORT UNIT
General Information
The International Student Support Unit of the University of the Aegean in Mytilene, Lesvos, is an institutional structure operating under the Central Directorate of Studies and Student Welfare. The International Student Support Unit was established by decision no. 7484/23.03.2023 (61st meeting) of the University of the Aegean’s Senate, published in the Government Gazette 2169/Β’/03.04.2023 in accordance with Article 212 of Law 4957/2022.
Purpose and Responsibilities of the International Student Support Unit (I.S.S.U.)
The purpose of the International Student Support Unit is to assist foreign students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs at the University of the Aegean, both before and after their arrival in Greece, regarding procedures, actions, and communication with other public authorities. Specifically, the Unit’s responsibilities include:
- supporting international students with their enrollment in foreign-language study programs of the University,
- assisting international students with the issuance of entry visas and residence permits for study purposes, and communicating with the relevant public authorities regarding these matters,
- supporting the process of concluding contracts for fast-track issuance of residence permits for study purposes, according to Article 37 of Law 4251/2014 (A’ 80),
- supporting students during their settlement in Greece,
- cooperating with the relevant university services for the support of international students,
- coordinating the organization of Greek language courses or other foreign language courses, in collaboration with the competent university units,
- performing any other task related to the support of international students.
The staff of the International Student Support Unit is available via email, telephone, or in person to assist international students with any issues that may arise.
