Graduate
studies

Those interested can submit an application to the Postgraduate Study Programs every year. PSPs publish calls of interest (announcements) on a yearly basis for programs which have been planned to begin the following academic year or semester.

PSPs publish their announcements on the webpages of relevant Departments, on the site of the University and other media means. Those interested can be informed about open calls of PSPs of the University of the Aegean here or contact Department Secretariats.

PSPs accept university graduates who have acquired a university degree after having completed the first cycle of university studies in Greece or in other equivalent foreign institutions.

In case the university degree submitted is from a foreign Institution and has not been recognized by the

Hellenic National Recognition and Information Center (Hellenic NARIC / DOATAP), the application for recognition and the required documents are submitted to the Hellenic NARIC by the University Department organizing the PSP. After the submission of all the required documents, the Hellenic NARIC comes to a decision within sixty (60) days.

 

The maximum number of postgraduate students to be accepted is defined by the Government Gazette for the establishment of every PSP.

The selection of postgraduate students is based on the provisions of Law 4485/2017 and the provisions of the Postgraduate Studies Regulation of every PSP.

Postgraduate Study Programs of the University of the Aegean last at least two semesters. Based on the Postgraduate Studies Regulation of every PSP, there may be a possibility for part-time studies (e.g. for students who work) the duration of which cannot exceed the double of the normal duration of studies. Also, based on the Postgraduate Studies Regulation of every PSP, students may be given the potential to temporarily interrupt or extend their studies.

To complete your postgraduate studies you should succeed in the tests for the courses and educational activities of the PSP (e.g. dissertation, apprenticeship) accounting for sixty (60) to a hundred and twenty (120)  ECTS users’ guide – European Commission (europa.eu) (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), depending on the duration of the Postgraduate Study Program (i.e. whether it is one year/ three semesters or a two-year program).

A postgraduate qualification is not awarded to students whose university titles from institutions based in foreign countries have not been recognized by the Hellenic National Recognition and Information Center (Hellenic N.A.R.I.C. / Δ.Ο.Α.Τ.Α.Π.), i.e. the state agency responsible for the academic recognition of titles awarded by foreign Higher Education Institutions, according to law 3328/2005 (A’ 80).

The nomination of graduates is accomplished with the successful presentation of the dissertation, i.e. after the successful completion of postgraduate studies, before the inauguration and the award of the Postgraduate Qualification/ Master’s Degree.

Contents

The Diploma Supplement is awarded together with the Master’s Degree. It is an explanatory document providing additional information and a standardized description about the nature, the level and content of the studies and also about the knowledge and skills acquired by students during their studies, facilitating the apprehension of the information provided by Universities, employers and Organizations based in other countries.

When is it awarded?

The Diploma Supplement is awarded together with the Master’s Degree and is automatically issued in Greek and English for free. Its date of issue does not necessarily coincide with the date the Master’s Degree is awarded but can never precede it.

The Diploma Supplement a) is not a substitute of the original Degree and b) does not automatically guarantee the recognition of the Degree.

Implementation in the European Union

The award of the Diploma Supplement came into force for all member-states of the EU, after being established by the European Parliament and the Council of Europe (Decision No 2241/2004/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2004 on a Single Community Framework for the transparency of qualifications and competences) in order for studies, professional qualifications and competences of Higher Education Graduates of all EU member-states to be defined in a uniform way. The Decision was included in the national legislation under Law 3374/2005, article 15 (Government Gazette A’ 189/2-8-2005).

The University of the Aegean awards a Diploma Supplement in Greek and English for all its Study Programs.

To attend a Postgraduate Study Programme (PSP) you may have to pay tuition fees.

In order to be informed in detail about the fees of PSPs and the procedures for their deposit, those interested should visit the webpage of the specific PSP or contact the relevant Department.

Postgraduate Study Programs (PSP) of the University of the Aegean may provide a specific number of scholarships to students fulfilling specific academic and/ or economic and social criteria, according to the Studies Regulation of each PSP. Scholarships may cover all or part of the tuition fees.

The University of the Aegean offers a wide range of Postgraduate Study Programs (PSPs), in Greek or English Language,  which fall under the administrative responsibility of the University, whereas the University Departments also participate in Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Study Programs under the responsibility of other Universities of Greece and in joint PSPs organized by foreign Universities recognized as cognate.
