A delegation from the Henan University visiting the University of the Aegean

On Friday 27th September 2019 the Rectorate Authorities of the University of the Aegean had a number of meetings at Rhodes with a delegation from the Department of Science and Technology of the University of the Henan Province, headed by Professor Changhong Miao.

The delegates from China had a discussion with the Rectoress of the University of the Aegean, Professor Chryssi Vitsilaki. The discussion was also attended by Vice Rectoress for Academic Affairs and Students’ Welfare Professor Elena Theodoropoulou, the Dean of the School of Humanities, Professor Ioannis Seimenis, the Head of the Department of Mediterranean Studies, Professor Katerina Frantzi and the Professor Ioannis Lyritzis.

The discussion focused on the actions to be taken in order to forward academic and research cooperation among the two Institutions and also on cooperation on cultural exchanges with the prospect to establish a “Confucius” Centre at the University of the Aegean. This meeting was a continuation of the previous formal and particularly constructive formal visit of a delegation from the University of Henan, headed by the Rector, Professor Keping Lu, which took place in August 2018 and which lay the grounds for expanding the existing cooperation on an institutional level.

The meeting at the University was followed by a meeting at the South Aegean Region between the Rectoress of the University of the Aegean, Professor Chryssi Vitsilaki, the Rectoress for Academic Affairs and Students’ Welfare Professor Elena Theodoropoulou, and the Chinese delegates from the Department of Science and Technology of the University of the Henan Province, and the Vice Regional Governor of Dodecanese responsible for Education, Life-long Learning and Employment, Giannis Kritikos and the Head of the Regional Governor’s Office, Haidi Lazani.

The discussion aimed at making the acquaintance with the delegates from the two Regions and Universities and sharing views about how to broaden cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology, Innovation, Tourism and Culture.
